Unveil the Secrets to Building a High-Value Business
Be Apart of the Million-Dollar Conversations
Oprah's favorite things makes her millions
It use to be just start you a social media account, post and get paid right? Well that's what you see on the front end. The influencer who is always sharing a link of something they recommend. Here's what you don't see and the strategy behind how they can promote almost anything and they have raving fans and followers who buy from them. It's called Personal Branding, and Oprah is one out of many celebrity example of how she is able to launch something, and in minutes it's sold out.
You know her Favorites Things List? Well everything on Oprah's list are affiliate links, and so she is getting a commision off of each sale made. And if you want to be respected like Oprah, as someone who people like, know and trust here's how you do that.
According to Forbes, 92% of consumers trust an influencer more than an advertisement or traditional celebrity endorsement.
1. Choose Your Content Pillars
This is pretty much everything that you like to talk about. These are the things that you are passionate about, and the things that you're good at. In a nutshell, these things are YOU. And that's the beauty of creating a personal brand, you get to share YOUR AUTHENTIC self with others. My own personal content pillars intertwine around faith-centered living, Family and Relationships, Entrepreneurship and Purpose, Financial Wisdom, Education Reform with a few others. But the topics I can talk about everyday and would never run out of things to say about them. They are also things I am really passionate about.
2. Plan out Your Posts
Once you get a good 3-5 content pillars outline (You can always add more later), then you need to start planning out what you're going to post. The easiest way to do this is to assign each of your content pillars to a day, and write captions for each of them. This is where you get to be YOU and share your beliefs, passions and tips and tricks. I like to use Social Bee to help me with auto scheduling my posts so I don't have to think about what I'm going to be posting each day. You can click here to learn more about how Social bee can help you Publish, analyze, engage, collaborate, and streamline your social media posting with the special power of content batching and recycling.
3. Choose Affiliate Links to Promote
And this is where the monetization comes into play. But before you get all excited, before you just go and promote anything, be sure it relates to your brand. In Oprah case, these are her favorite things she loves to use, so these naturally align with her brand image. However, Oprah would not promote Bud Light beer, as this could tarnish her brand image that she's worked so hard to build. So this is where you want to be specific as to what you promote and make sure it's in alignment with you and your brand. Start with the things you already love and see if they have an affiliate or partner program to sign up with.
Building a personal brand is just the beginning of monetizing your identity, and affiliate links is a great place to start, but this is just touching the tip of the iceberg of how much you can change your financial situation sooner than you think.
